KIENZLE Uhren was founded in Schwenningen/Neckar as a German watch factory by master watchmaker Johannes Schlenker.

1894


Introduction of innovative production methods such as the use of prefabricated parts to reduce costs:

Jakob Kienzle became the sole owner and the company was renamed "KIENZLE".

1899 - 1903


The company begins industrial production with a workforce of 400 employees. The production of watches and movements exceeds the million mark for the first time.



Establishment of a branch in Paris.

1904 - 1911


The company brought the first time clock onto the market, followed by inexpensive pocket watches, travel alarm clocks and wristwatches for women, as well as the first on-board clocks for automobiles.


The export share is 75%.



Establishment of a branch in New York / USA.

1922 - 1924


Transformation of the KG into a stock corporation. Shareholders are family members.


The total annual production is more than 3 million pieces.

Series production of automatic wristwatches begins.


The “Volksautomatik” was born to help self-winding wristwatches achieve their final breakthrough in Germany.

1960 - 1970er


Market leader in Germany.


Pioneer in the development of solar watches, battery-operated watches and quartz movements.


Establishment of the Swiss branch “KIENZLE Zürich AG”. KIENZLE-Swiss models complement the wristwatch range in the area of more expensive watches.

1986 - 1987


Introduction of a solar watch with low light requirements.


With over 300 million watches and timepieces sold all over the world, KIENZLE is becoming an international brand name in the watch industry.

1990er


Waterproof diving watch up to 12,000 meters depth and the first radio-controlled alarm clock with analogue alarm time setting.


Market launch of a faster radio-controlled movement.

2010


Takeover of the KIENZLE watch brand and the operational business by the owner family. A new KIENZLE watch collection comes onto the market and is being launched internationally

ab 2024


The new owner, Kienzle GmbH in Wels, takes over the Kienzle brand. With dedicated product experts who all vakze and carry forward KIENZLE's brand values, we will now expand the brand's history beyond watches to new product segments and give our customers the opportunity to afford KIENZLE brand products
